In recent years, our competitors have started to use “tumbler” and “massager” interchangeably. We don’t blame them. Here’s why.
Meat tumblers typically use straight internal flights inside their drums. This is the cheapest way to build the equipment, since it requires less time for fitting and welding the flights. However, the straight flights lift and drop the meat inside the drum, attempting to tenderize it via hydraulic shock. This slamming action beats up the product—damaging muscle structure, creating uneven solution absorption, and causing increased loss.
Challenge RMF meat massagers have helical flights precision-welded inside of them. This provides a twofold benefit.
- First, our proprietary Meat-on-Meat Massage™ technology gently folds, rolls and kneads the whole muscles against each other. This massaging action tenderizes the muscle and activates proteins deep within each piece without damaging the tissues. In the end, meat massaging leads to more consistent texture, improved dispersions of marinades and brines, and higher yield.
- Second, the helical flights strengthen the drum itself for significantly longer production life and reduced need for flight or drum repair or replacement.
